Privacy Policy

Effective: June 1, 2026 · Last updated: June 1, 2026

The short version

  • Text recognition on your screenshots happens on your device, and we never sell your data.
  • The text needed to recognize an event is sent to an AI processing service for parsing — used once, then discarded, never used to train models.
  • Calendar access tokens are stored securely on your device and used only to create events you've confirmed.

SnapCal ("the app," "we," "us") is an iOS app that helps you recognize event details in screenshots and add them to your calendar. This policy explains what information we process, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we process

Screenshots and images you choose

When you select a screenshot or send an image via the system Share sheet, SnapCal reads it to recognize the event inside. Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device; to parse the recognized text into a structured event, the necessary text is sent to our third-party AI processing service. In a small number of complex-layout cases, a compressed image may be sent to improve recognition.

This content is used only for that recognition and is discarded after processing. It is not stored long-term on our servers and is not used to train AI models.

Calendar access

When you choose to sync an event to Google Calendar, Lark, or Outlook, we request authorization from that service so we can create only the events you confirm. Access tokens are stored securely on your device. We do not read, modify, or delete your other existing events, and we do not upload your calendar contents to our servers.

Account information (optional)

You can try recognition without signing in. If you choose to sign in (e.g., Sign in with Apple), we receive basic information used to identify your account (such as email and display name). Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real email.

Usage and subscription status

Your free-allowance count and subscription status are stored in your device's local storage to power the "10 free per month" logic. Subscription transactions are handled by the Apple App Store; we never see your payment details.

Device permissions

2. Third-party services

To provide core functionality, SnapCal interacts with the following third parties. Their own privacy policies apply to the data they process:

Google API Services Limited Use
SnapCal's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google Calendar access solely to create events at your request. We do not use it for advertising, do not sell this data, and do not use it to train general-purpose AI models.

3. What we don't do

4. Data retention and security

Recognition is transient: content used for parsing is discarded after processing. Subscription status, usage counts, and calendar access tokens are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app clears this local data. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit and during processing.

5. Children's privacy

SnapCal is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights and choices

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date on this page. Please review it periodically.
